About This Resource
Mapping Terrorism's Path Through London is a digital mapping resource assembled by students at the Georgia Institute of Technology for English 1102, Section K, taught by Dr. Kathryn Crowther. The class topic is "Literary London." The completed website is available to the public as of December 6, 2011.
The Project
This resource is Group 5's submission for Dr. Kathryn Crowther's English 1102 Digital Mapping Project. The premise of this project is that each group should create a digital resource that maps some aspect of any novel (or combination thereof) that the class has studied throughout the semester. This resource could be anything from a literal map of a character's movement throughout the story to a text map of a passage from the novel. In this resource, the group has mapped how a character's thoughts are shaped by his surroundings by using a physical map.
The Novel
Ian McEwan's Saturday is the focus of our digital mapping project. Group 5 chose to map this resource because of how strongly the themes of the novel resonate with the concerns raised by modern global events. Saturday makes the reader aware of the influence of modern terrorism on our world and on the individuals that live in it.
